Discovery Bay

Discovery Bay currently represents the furthest incursion of suburban space into the Delta.

Produced by dredging between the backyards of its single-family, cul-de-sac morphology, Discovery Bay is filled with the power boats, decks, and docks of boat-loving families who live here.

Unfortunately, the designers of Discovery Bay’s suburban morphology created many dead-end waterways and the attendant environmental consequences. The lack of water flow through these watery cul-de-sacs has led to a future of increasingly poor water quality, and quite possibly, quality of life for the residents of Discovery Bay.
