Delta Watershed
The Central Valley’s watershed covers 62,500 square miles, the area of New England, and extends from Mount Shasta in the north to Bakersfield in the south.
Approximately 75% of the water entering the Delta comes from the Sacramento watershed to the north, a significant portion of which is then diverted to the arid south and to L.A. This ecological asymmetry has had and will continue to have political consequences.
